Robotic-Assisted One-Stage Resection of Colorectal Cancer with Liver Metastases

چکیده

The liver is the most common site of colorectal cancer metastatic spread, which occurs in about 50% patients. Although synchronous disease considered to have a less favorable biology and poorer prognosis compared metachronous disease, surgery nowadays only therapy offering potential cure. Only 20% these patients are eligible for surgery. Radical resection primary colon metastasis may allow 5-year survival rate ranging between 40–57%. Laparoscopic one-stage was demonstrated be safe effective, but sometimes it challenging. diffusion robotic has recently expanded application robots multivisceral-multiquadrant Compared laparoscopy, technology offers fine dissection microsuture better vascular management, facilitating parenchymal-sparing especially posterior segments. conversion open seems reduced. hybrid approach (laparoscopy robotic) reduce overall operative time, reserving challenging steps. Randomized controlled trials necessary fully demonstrate advantages this technology, terms reduction morbidity.

Liver Resection for Metastases from Colorectal Cancer.

Five percent of patients with liver secondaries from colorectal carcinoma are potentially resectable and several studies have demonstrated significantly improved survival following resection. Two hundred and ten patients operated for colorectal carcinoma were followed up. Computed tomography confirmed potentially resectable metastasis to the liver in 38. On exploration 18 patients who had 4 or ...

Resection for Colorectal Liver Metastases

Colorectal cancer is the third most frequent cancer in the Western world. About half of the patients develop synchronous or metachronous metastases. The liver is the most common site of such metastases and thus hepatic metastatic disease is a significant socio-medical problem. If it is not treated, the median patient survival is only some months. Surgical resection is the treatment of choice fo...

PURPOSE More than 50,000 patients in the United States will present each year with liver metastases from colorectal cancers. The current study was performed to determine if liver resection for colorectal metastases is safe and effective and to evaluate predictors of outcome. Robotic simultaneous resection of rectal cancer and liver metastases

Surgical resection is the only potential cure for colorectal cancer with synchronous liver metastases (SLM). Simultaneous resection of colorectal cancer and SLM using robotic-assistance has been rarely reported. We demonstrate that robotic-assisted simultaneous resection of colorectal cancer and SLMs is feasible, safe, and has potential to demonstrate good oncologic outcomes.
